Fund Manager (CIS Manager).
A Mauritius CIS Manager is authorised to carry out all activities required to manage a Collective Investment Scheme — administration, NAV calculation, distribution, accounting, investment advice in relation to the scheme and portfolio management. Required by every Fund unless it is structured as self-managed.
What this licence lets you do
- Manage one or more Collective Investment Schemes (Mauritius, Cayman, BVI, etc.)
- Provide all administrative services required by the scheme
- Act as registrar & transfer agent for the fund
- Distribute the securities of the scheme
- Maintain the accounting records of the scheme
- Give investment advice in relation to the scheme
- Manage the portfolio of the scheme
Eligibility & substance
- GBC company + FSC CIS Manager licence
- Minimum stated unimpaired capital: MUR 1,000,000 (~USD 30,000)
- At least 2 Mauritius-resident directors + 2 foreign directors from your side
- Investment Advisory Committee with min. 2 experienced individuals (2–3 years+ in advisory)
- Principal bank account, accounting records and audited accounts in Mauritius
- Compulsory insurance against fraud, fraudulent instructions, data corruption and breach of professional duty
- Quarterly unaudited accounts within 45 days; audited annual report within 90 days of year-end
- Tax rate 15% with DTA benefits available; substance requirements apply
